Floatle is a free daily word game at floatle.cc. There are no accounts and no ads, and we never sell data. This page explains what happens to data when you play. Questions? Email floatlegame@gmail.com.
What we process, and why
Your answers
When you submit an answer, it goes to our server together with the question so it can be judged. Answers the game doesn't already know are sent to an AI service to judge (see Services we use). We keep each judged answer and its verdict, linked to the question but not to you, so the same answer gets the same verdict for everyone. We also count how many players gave each answer ("the herd"); those are just counts.
Your internet address
Our host, Cloudflare, needs your IP address to deliver the site. Our server also uses it for a short time to stop abuse with rate limits. For counting one vote per player and for daily fair-use limits, we store only a scrambled code made from it with a secret key. That code changes every day and is deleted within a few days.
Player pass and Cloudflare Turnstile
To keep the game fair and stop bots, your browser runs an invisible check from Cloudflare Turnstile. When it passes, your device receives a player pass: a random, signed code that lasts 30 days. It's stored on your device and sent with your answers, so fair-use limits count per player even when many people share one internet address, like a school. The pass contains no personal information.
Turnstile is provided by Cloudflare, which processes information from your browser to tell people and bots apart, as described in the Cloudflare Turnstile Privacy Addendum.
Google Analytics, only if you allow it
If you tap Allow on the cookie banner, Google Analytics sets cookies (named _ga) and collects usage data, such as pages viewed, device type and approximate location, so we can see how many people play and what to improve. If you tap No thanks, or don't choose, nothing is loaded from Google and no Analytics cookies are set.
You can change your choice at any time under How to play → Cookie settings. Saying no later stops Analytics and deletes its cookies. Read how Google uses information from sites that use its services and Google's privacy policy.
Stored on your device
Your game progress, stats, settings, cookie choice and player pass are kept in your browser's local storage. They stay on your device; only the player pass is sent, with your answers. You can remove them any time by clearing this site's data in your browser.
Technical logs
Cloudflare keeps short-lived technical logs, such as request details and errors, so the service can run and stay secure.
Services we use
- Cloudflare: hosting, database, rate limiting, Turnstile, and Workers AI (a backup answer judge). See the Cloudflare Privacy Policy and the Cloudflare Turnstile Privacy Addendum.
- Groq: judges answers with AI. See the Groq privacy policy.
- Google Gemini API: a backup AI judge. See the Gemini API terms.
- Google Analytics: only with your consent, as described above.
Free AI services may keep the text they receive and use it to improve their services, so please don't type personal information as an answer. Some of these companies are based outside the European Union; they protect such transfers with the legal safeguards described in their own policies.
Legal bases
We judge answers, deliver the site, and use your internet address, the player pass, Turnstile and technical logs because they're needed to run the game you chose to play and to keep it secure and fair (legitimate interests). We use Google Analytics only with your consent, which you can withdraw at any time.
Your rights
You can ask to access, correct or delete personal data about you, or object to its use, by emailing floatlegame@gmail.com. You can also complain to the data protection authority in your country. Most of what we store can't be linked to you, because it's either anonymous counts or scrambled codes that change every day. Everything kept on your device is removed when you clear this site's data in your browser.
